The Problem
1 in 3 girls in the
U.S.
will become pregnant in their teenage years.
Only 1 in 3 of these mothers complete high school and
only 1.5% of teen mothers have a college degree by the age of
30. 80% of unmarried
teen mothers end up on welfare due to the high cost of living
and lack of a support system.
Sons of teen mothers are 13% more likely to end up in
prison, while daughters of teen moms are 22% more likely to
become teen mothers themselves continuing the cycle of poverty.
On any given evening, over 90,000 people are homeless in Los Angeles County.
20-43% are families, and the fastest rising population
among the homeless is led by single mothers.
13.4% of the population in
L.A.
County is living below the
poverty line.
Society’s Burden
Welfare provides, year after year, financial aid through taxpayers,
yet still leaves most recipients below the poverty line,
emotionally bruised, and lacking self-worth.
